Glass fully Automatic Warehousing System
Glass fully automatic warehousing, often also referred to as glass high-rise warehouse (automated stereoscopic warehouse) or intelligent warehousing system, is a core component for modern glass deep processing enterprises to achieve intelligent and digitalized production. It has completely transformed the traditional mode of storing and managing glass raw sheets and finished products that relied on manual labor and forklifts.
Ⅰ. What is a fully automatic glass warehousing system?
The fully automatic glass warehousing system is a complex automated system integrating high-rise shelves, rail-guided stacker cranes, automatic guided vehicles (AGVs)/robots, automatic conveying systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and warehouse control systems (WCS).
Its core function is to achieve the automatic warehousing, storage, outbound, sorting and logistics management of glass sheets (large-sized glass transported from glass manufacturing enterprises) and finished glass (processed products), without the need for direct manual operation throughout the process.
II. Main Components of the System
1. High-level Racking System
- Usually made of steel structure, it can reach a height of 20 meters or even higher, making full use of vertical space and saving floor space of the factory.
- The storage positions are specially designed with inclined brackets to safely and stably store glass sheets at a slight angle, preventing them from toppling over or deforming.
2. Core Handling Equipment - Stacker Crane
- Runs on fixed tracks between the racks and is the main execution mechanism for goods storage and retrieval.
- Equipped with special vacuum suction frames for glass, it can safely and smoothly lift multiple sheets (a stack) of glass at once through negative pressure.
- Controlled precisely by a servo system, it can quickly and accurately position in three-dimensional space (X, Y, Z axes) to complete the operations of picking up and placing goods.
3. Inbound and Outbound Conveying System
- The "vascular network" connecting the high-rise warehouse and the production line.
- Includes roller conveyors, chain conveyors, turntables, elevators, etc., responsible for the automatic flow of glass between the high-rise warehouse and processing stations such as cutting, edging, and tempering.
4. Brain and Nerves - Management System
- Warehouse Management System (WMS): The "brain" of the system. It is responsible for managing inventory information, optimizing storage strategies (such as first-in, first-out), processing orders, generating operation instructions, and interfacing with the upper-level Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Warehouse Control System (WCS): The "cerebellum and nerves" of the system. It receives instructions from the WMS and is responsible for real-time scheduling and control of all hardware equipment such as stacker cranes, conveyor lines, and AGVs to work in coordination.
III. Core Advantages and Value
1. Significantly increase space utilization:
- Utilizing high-rise shelves, storage capacity can reach 3 to 5 times that of traditional flat warehouses, saving a large amount of land and construction costs.
2. Achieve intelligent inventory management:
- Real-time tracking of the location, status, and information of each piece of glass, with 100% accurate inventory data, eliminating errors in manual record-keeping.
- Easily implement management strategies such as "first in, first out", avoiding long-term storage of glass leading to deterioration.
3. Enhance production efficiency and capacity:
- 24-hour uninterrupted operation, with retrieval speeds far exceeding those of manual labor.
- Automatically linked with production lines, ensuring continuous and efficient material supply, reducing equipment waiting time, and serving as the foundation for building "dark factories".
4. Significantly reduce labor and operational costs:
- Greatly reduce the need for forklift drivers and warehouse managers, lowering labor costs and management complexity.
- Decrease breakage rates and work-related injuries caused by manual handling, ensuring production safety.
5. Elevate the digitalization level of the enterprise:
- As a core logistics link in intelligent factories, it provides real-time and accurate data support for enterprise ERP/MES systems, being a key to achieving full-process digitalization and intelligent decision-making.
IV. Application Scenarios
· Large-scale architectural glass manufacturers: Handle a large quantity of architectural curtain wall and door and window glass of various specifications.
· Automotive glass manufacturers: Manage the glass components for multiple vehicle models.
· Deep-processed photovoltaic glass enterprises: Efficiently process large-sized and thin photovoltaic glass.
· Home appliance glass and display cover glass enterprises: Require high cleanliness and high-precision logistics management.
Summary
The fully automatic glass warehousing system is far more than just "replacing human labor with machines for moving goods". It is a highly complex system engineering project integrating precision machinery, automatic control, Internet of Things (IoT), and information technology. It represents the inevitable trend of the glass processing industry towards intelligence, flexibility, and digitalization, and is a key infrastructure for modern glass enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness.
