What is EVA Laminated Glass?

EVA laminated glass is another widelyused laminated glass variant in the glass processing industry, wellknown for simple production and rich decorative performance.

EVA stands for EthyleneVinyl Acetate. EVA laminated glass bonds two or more glass sheets together with EVA thermoplastic interlayer film under heat and vacuum condition. Unlike PVB laminated glass that must go through an autoclave for highpressure processing, EVA laminated glass can be finished inside a vacuum laminating furnace only, without an autoclave required. The production workflow is straightforward: clean glass panels, place EVA film between glass sheets, seal with hightemperature tape, put the whole assembly into a vacuum bag, evacuate air, then heat to around 110130°C inside the laminating furnace. The EVA film melts and completes crosslinking reaction, tightly sticking to glass surfaces to form integrated laminated glass. Midsize and small glass factories favor this solution because equipment investment is much lower than an autoclave production line.

EVA laminated glass delivers basic safety performance. Once broken, glass fragments stick firmly to the EVA interlayer and will not splash around, lowering injury risks, so it is also categorized as safety glass for interior applications. Its most outstanding advantage lies in excellent moisture resistance. PVB interlayer is sensitive to humidity; if glass edges are exposed to damp air for long periods, delamination may easily occur. EVA interlayer resists moisture very well, so exposededge glass structures face far lower delamination risks.

EVA film has great compatibility with diverse insert materials. Metal mesh, textile fabric, paper, decorative artwork, printed PET film and photovoltaic cells can all be encapsulated inside EVA laminated glass to create unique decorative glass products. It supports abundant color options: transparent, ultraclear, frosted, jadesand, red, blue, black and other tinted EVA films are available, which makes EVA laminated glass highly popular for interior decoration projects such as office partitions, hotel interior walls, exhibition hall decorative panels and art glass displays. It is also the mainstream interlayer material for PDLC smart switchable glass lamination, since its relatively low processing temperature will not damage inner liquidcrystal layers.

EVA laminated glass can block most ultraviolet rays, protecting indoor furniture and decorations from UVcaused fading. However, ordinarygrade EVA film has weaker antiUV aging performance compared with PVB. Under longterm strong direct sunlight, nonUVstabilized EVA interlayer will gradually turn yellow. For this reason, standard EVA laminated glass is mostly recommended for indoor scenarios.

To sum up: EVA laminated glass is a costeffective decorative safety glass. It shines for interior decoration, creative design, smart glass and exposededge structures. When projects demand toplevel longterm weather resistance, superior sound insulation and highlevel outdoor safety performance, PVB or SGP laminated glass remains the more appropriate choice.
